For the AUTHORS at a multi-author signing or book fair, there is that comforting feeling we get when gathering with other people who do what we do (write). There is a feeling of camaraderie that we don’t get at lone-author signings, where the pressure is on “JUST ME!” And, at a book fair or multi-author signing, the pressure isn’t on the book BUYERS either…which brings me to my second point.
For people attending the 17th Annual Chronicle Book Fair on Sunday, November 4th, there will be a great variety of new and interesting books to buy. Over 70 authors will be there at the lovely Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, N.Y. to sign their books right on the spot, between the hours of 11 AM and 4 PM. And with that many authors, this book fair offers a No-Pressure-To-Buy environment!
Picture it: with so many authors, all at their own tables, with book lovers meandering throughout the room (picking up books and otherwise engaging the authors in delightful conversation), the undecided book buyer is free to read backmatter on any of the books being offered without feeling the obligation to actually buy a book she decides she does not want. Why, she can slip back into the crowd and continue on her journey for that perfect book! Once she finds it, she will have the opportunity to chat with its author and have her book signed! The author will have the opportunity to meet and speak with a reader! Free cookies, free pens, free book marks, even chocolate might be thrown into the mix! I call that a WIN-WIN PROPOSITION! 🙂
I will be signing my book The Filigree Slippers at
